The National Park Centre

The National Park Centre "Sächsische" in Bad Schandau represents one of the most modern conservation visitor centres in Germany.

Here the goals, assignment and special features of the Saxon Switzerland National Park region are presented in exhibitions on nature and culture as well as in projects and events. This is where visitors can enjoy the friendly athmosphere of the National Park House as well as the numerous exhibitions and the adventure and information areas. Visitors can also relax at the multimedia show or in the Café & Restaurant.

Here visitors can also book one of the National Park guides for group hikes.

Opening hours:

Peak season:
1 April to 31 October daily from 9 am to 6 pm

Low season:
1 November to 31 March daily
except Mondays from 9 am to 5 pm

Closed from:
3 January until 31 January 2008
(Please book group tours in advance - the National Park House office will be staffed during this time.)

Beginning on 1 February 2008 the low season opening hours will apply again.
