Support Committee of the Saxony State Foundation for Nature and the Environment

The Saxony State Foundation for Nature and the Environment was set up as an independent foundation under public law by legislation in 1998. The Free State of Saxony is the patron. It is a not-for-profit organisation and promotes measures and activities within Saxony for the protection, preservation and care of nature and the countryside, which form the basis for all life. Our general understanding of nature and environmental protection issues within science, education and the general public is needed more than ever.

This requires partners and supporters. For this reason the “Support Committee of the Saxony State Foundation for Nature and the Environment” was set up in 2001 as an initiative of the Chair of the Foundation and a decision of the Foundation Council. This body aims to support the goals of the Foundation and support their activities. It is currently made up of over 50 representatives from business, science, the media, politics, culture and the community, who support the Foundation as partners and supporters. Subjects relating to the work of the Foundation are presented and discussed at committee meetings, which generally take place once a year. Gisela Margarvine of Saxony has been chair of the Support Committee since its formation.
