“Freshwater Pearl Mussels” exhibition

“Freshwater Pearl Mussels” exhibition

In recent years, a lot of valuable knowledge about the biology and habitat of the freshwater pearl mussel has been gathered. The touring exhibition “The freshwater pearl mussel - an extremely important animal in the Bavaria - Bohemia - Saxony region” from the Nature Protection Fund of the Saxony State Foundation for Nature and the Environment presents this knowledge in an exciting, stimulating way.

Studies looking at the possible causes of the decline of the pearl mussel have been carried out for several years by the Faculty of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology at the University of Bayreuth under the leadership of Prof, Dr. Hartmut Frank.

This academic study also involved creative interaction with the freshwater pearl mussels. The pictures arose as part of an artistic process which we show on our boards “Artists in rural streams”.

You are welcome to book this touring exhibition on freshwater pearl mussels for your organisation, if you have adequate space, and you would like to present the exhibition to the public.

The exhibition consists of

- 12 double sided displays,

- 4 displays with artistic themes (single sided) and

- 4 displays with comic themes (single sided).

So there are 20 displays in total each 2.25m high and 1.00m wide.

The exhibition is partly bi-lingual - also in Czech.
