Importance as a Natural Protected Area:

The areas acquired consist of forest and meadow areas. The forest area is made up of several small biotopes, including an alder wood and small, natural bodies of water. Beavers have found this to be an ideal habitat.

The area has also been classed as an FFH, and so has European level protection status. A meadow area was purchased, in order to extend the biotope network of the area.

By acquiring the sites, the LaNU Nature Protection Fund has ensured the long term preservation of this area in the context of nature protection.

Conservation and Development:

The meadow was leased to a local agricultural cooperative, who manage it in a very natural manner.

An agreement was concluded for forestry management of the wooded area with the Saxony Forest State Office / Taura Forestry Area.
